Urban survivors at Kenzo

Paris: Humberto Leon and Carol Lim’s new collection was a mash-up of London’s punk culture and the outdoors theme that it has been popping up on the catwalks this season. A gorgeous palette of olive green and earthy tones was enlivened by bright oranges, silver and daring blues. Looks were layered in a clever way – anoraks over nylon trenches, ponchos over printed coats and hooded parkas over trucker jackets. The designers explored the concept of survival – emergency blanket-style fabrics and safety slogans updated humorously outerwear and knits. Fuzzy stripes and graffiti-style camouflage were the main prints throughout the line up and appeared in shearling jackets and oversize sweaters and sweatshirts. Precise tailored trousers were revamped with cropped silhouettes and utility details such as oversized pockets and zippers. Elsewhere, Bright acid-washed trucker jackets and jeans underpinned the punk attitude of this unique and stylish collection. Original and eye-catching. – Diego Sanchez
