Milan…After a couple of seasons of rich grandeur, the D&G duo moved on to the steamy and sun-baked desert for the setting of their S/S 10 collection (there was even a classic country Western soundtrack!). Heavily washed chambray shirts, dirty-wash jeans and studded boots made up much of the show. The lightweight leather pants and patchwork Western shirts came off a bit cliché. Even with such classic items, Dolce and Gabbana did what they do best and injected an over-the-top quality into the entire collection by adding embellishments like piped hems, leather appliqué and even studs onto jackets and boots. The accomplishment of the show was when suiting jackets and shawl collar velvet evening jackets (in colors described as “possum-soft brown, rust, and aubergine”) were paraded out layered over the chambray shirts and jeans. What a chic alternative for the Wild West.
