New York: A trip to California lightened up Andreas Melbostad’s state of mind. “ I liked this idea of street culture meets beach culture”, he said of the line-up, which borrowed elements from classic beachwear items mixed with the tougher edge of Diesels street wear appeal. A stripped back palette of icy whites and steel greys were interjected into DBG’s signature all black line up. The brands staple leather jackets came in brilliant white, bonded with jersey lining and scuba seaming, resembling the top half of a wetsuit. Street wear separates such as silk track pants and mini dresses came in ladylike macramé adored with rivets and eyelets, rather than studs, lending a more delicate feel – whilst jean jackets and cotton shirts with kimono style sleeves felt fresh for the brand. Melbostad also introduced a new denim silhouette for Resort – jeans came oversized and cuffed lending a subtle 90’s skater appeal, whilst others stayed skinny with doodle like tribal prints, adding a personalised touch. A breath of fresh, seaside air for Diesel Black Gold. – Anna Ross
