Tweensetter Tavi Gevinson will be joining forces with founding editor of Sassy magazine, Jane Pratt, to launch a new magazine that will target “wallflowerly teenage girls”. The idea to collaborate materialized over a meeting that was initiated by Pratt when she learned that Tavi was an admirer. Tavi emphasized on her blog, Style Rookie, that the new mag will not be directly inspired by Sassy, stressing that much has changed in the world since the magazine folded in 1996. She writes the new magazine “won’t be Sassy (or the rebirth of Sassy, or Sassy 2.0)” but will “use Sassy as a point of reference for the whole teen-magazine-that-doesn’t-suck thing.”
Tavi shared some of her thoughts on Sassy in a presentation she gave at the Idea City conference in Toronto over the summer. Watch the video below.
