New York: Strong female film stars from various decades inspired Gaby Basora’s Pre-Fall collection for Tucker. In an interview, she mentioned Lauren Bacall, Marilyn Monroe, and Sophia Coppola as references. With such style icons as fodder, it would be hard to go wrong. One could imagine Bacall wearing the ivory backless jumpsuit, while Monroe would’ve sported the cropped pants and sweet, printed blouses. Coppola may have been responsible for the simpler pieces, such as an ice blue ankle-length tank dress. In addition to these odes to star of the silver screen, the 1970s seemed to have been another touch point. Midi skirts, high-waisted trousers, and peasant dresses evoked the era, and strappy wedge sandals completed each look. The prints, always a highlight, ranged from funky to femme and included a range of florals, in addition to whimsical feathers, seductive leopard, and a geometric folkloric motif.–Joanna Manganaro
