Elements Showcase opened its doors Aug 15-16, 2011 to feature the art of perfumery. This innovative showcase is a gem on the trade show calender and one that we always look forward to attending. Although only in its second presentation, Elements has established itself as the definitive experience for the world of fragrance design. It has more than doubled in size since the show’s premiere in January 2011 and expanded to include high-end skincare and apothecary lines. The amount of care and passion on display was extraordinary and truly an inspiring experience. Stay tuned to stylesight.com for our in-depth Elements coverage and photos but here’s a preview of a few major themes and noteworthy brands that caught out eye:
– New Concepts & Experiences
Intertrade Europe launched Blood Concept, a concept fragrance series designed for each blood type. The series explores the evolution of mankind through time from blood type O (“from the depths of the earth”) to AB (“a mineral fragrance”) with modern metallic notes and no flowery notes.
Evidens Crackling Body Foam is a totally new experience that had us all ooh-ing. It is made with refreshing micro beads that burst on contact with the skin accompanied by a crackling sound and popping sensation and leaves golden sparkles for a lasting radiance.
Cire Trudon Stink Bombs are exactly what you might think. Throw them on the ground and experience the perfume rise.
Art Collection by Jacomo features three fragrances done in collaboration with three different artists in Jacomo’s private Art Collection – Cecilia Carlstedt, Daniel Egneus and Stina Persson. The artists worked closely with perfumers to create a fragrance depicting an aromatic illustration of their specific artwork. Each scent is named for its corresponding collection number.
– Capturing Emotions & Memories
Atelier Cologne, founded by Sylvie Ganter (formerly of Hermes and FRESH) and Christopher Cervasel, crafts concentrated, long-lasting and unexpected fragrance variations with fresh citruses. Each Cologne Absolue is inspired by a moment. Why Citrus? Ganter could never find one that she like. There’s also the story of the original eau de cologne created 300 years ago by an Italian perfumer who had moved to Cologne, Germany. He created a blend of citrus oils in memory of his Italian homeland. Each Atelier Cologne fragrance is topped with a beautiful, handcrafted leather cap. It’s first store will open in NYC soon!
MCMC Fragrances are handcrafted in small batches and bottled by hand in Brooklyn. Each fragrance is inspired by a moment or a memory in founder Anne McClain’s life and the moment is shared inside the fragrance packaging.
– Lighter/seasonless scents
Anthousa’s lovely new addition for Fall 2011 is the Parisian White Tea Home Ambiance Perfume & Candle Tumbler. Meyer lemon, wild lilies and white tea is blended with heliotope flower, fern leaves and pink tuberose and grounded with rosewater, ylang ylang and a sheer musk note. Founder Maria Christofilis was inspired by the lovely tea rooms in Paris and white tea, historically the rarest and most exclusive of teas.
Amouage Honor for Woman is a white floral fragrance inspired by Puccini’s Madame Butterfly. It will launch in the US in September.
– I Love New York
Bond No. 9 debuted the I Love New York collection – the fragrance version of the iconic “I Love New York” t-shirt. This is a new, easy-to-wear collection dedicated to the state of New York rather than the specific neighborhoods that Bond No.9 is known for. They will also retail at a slightly lower price point than Bond No.9. There will be 15 scents in total and arrives on counters Sept 18.
