Over the past two days at Cosmoprof Bologna, we’ve seen a lot of hair and nail products. There’s been a lot of argan oil hair products, no ammonia hair color, soak off gels, nail wraps and magnetic polishes. Here are some of the noteworthy products we’ve seen during the past two days.
This Dutch, unisex styling line is pronounced “dope”, and we think it is quite dope. There’s a product for every type of hair and every desired look. Just consult the number key on the side of the jar to identify the right product for you. All products are paraben-free, easy to use and easy to wash out, with a sassy, edgy brand personality. The founder emphasized that he wanted it to stay a styling range. Why just a styling range? “It’s easier for hairstylists to add a new styling range. If its a full range, sometimes it’s more difficult for hairstylists to stock.” He also mentioned that with a full line, some are top sellers and others are shelf sitters. So this way, each product is a must-have. And it is.
We saw a lot of argan oil hair products so we weren’t too excited to see another argan oil product. However, but the packaging got our attention and the more we heard about the brand, the more interested we became. Nashi is an Italian hair care brand. The argan line came out two years ago to meet the consumer’s demand for argan oil products. How is it different than the other argan oil lines? There is one product for each hair category (shampoo, conditioner, hydrating mask, oil, spray, and styling mask) and each is suited for every kind of hair (there are 33 types of hair – thin, curly, color, thick, long, etc). While other argan oils can be oily or on the greasier side, this one is light enough to put on the hair and body. The new launch for Cosmoprof 2012 is the Instant Hydrating Styling Mask. It protects hair from heat, closes cuticles and also has a memory function that returns hair to the previous style.
Keratin and straightening treatments begone! Is Kahm the new miracle straightener? This is a 15 minute, natural home straightening treatment that requires a blow dryer (not a flat iron) for straight hair that lasts for one day. The two key ingredients are argan oil and hemp oil. Hemp oil’s benefits are similar to argan oil’s but has a higher concentration of fatty essential oils.
Rare Blossom is the first organic cosmetics brand in Turkey. After 13 years of city life, the Turkish founders headed to a farm Yakatarla in the West Aegean village Gokceovacik. There, they planted organic vegetables and herbs and opened an olive oil factory. As his daughter described it, “my father started pressing everything he could and that started the face line.” While pressing, he discovered the high antioxidant benefits of magnolia oil and used it to create the new Renewal & Antioxidant Cream. Magnolia oil captures and removes free radicals to protect against aging, reverse signs of aging and improve skin elasticity and resilience. All products are certified by Ecocert Greenlife.
O’right Natural & Pure
O’right caught our eye with their simple but compelling display. O’right is a Taiwanese hair care brand that is committed to developing stylish, 100% “Green Products” starting from the ingredients to the soy ink to the FSC certified paper used for packaging. Recyclable materials are not good enough for them, so they use biodegradable materials. Their newest innovation in 2012 is the sustainable Taiwanese Bamboo design. Each packaging is hand made from Taiwanese Bamboo and designed to be refillable.
Also on display was their “Tree in a Bottle/Greenest In the World” shampoo made with 100% biodegradable materials like PLA (a material extracted from waste fruits, vegetables and plants). It has seeds embedded in the bottle so that after use, you can bury the bottle into the soil. It will decompose into CO2 and H20 that will help the seeds grow.
