Topshop Unique

LONDON…Topshop Unique designers, Jacqui Markham and Karen Bonser, tapped into a current thread running through many of the F/W 09 collections—eighties and early nineties references, apparent in silhouettes of oversized shoulders and narrow pants or skirts, giant cocoon like coats and sweaters and streamlined jumpsuits, all of which are key shapes of the season. Inspired by “images of grunge and sci-fi and New Age travelers,” their ensembles featured futuristic prints of UFOs and crop circles. Favorite looks included: the pointy shoulder dress layered over leather leggings, a sequined, color blocked tunic layered over leggings, and a sleek, V-neck jumpsuit accessorized with an Azzedine Alaïa-esque, wide belt. These nouveau Star Trek outfits are sure to be a big hit with fashion forward girls who want to look out of this world.
