Tommy’s Preppy Beach House


Tommy Hilfiger has teamed up with The Official Preppy Handbook and True Prep author, Lisa Birnbach, for a new capsule collection called Prep World. The men’s and women’s assortment will launch this spring with a global tour of “drop in shops” in cities like New York, Milan, Paris, Stockholm, Madrid, Sylt (Germany), Knokke (Belgium), Tokyo and two other unnamed American cities. The 800 square foot mobile shop is inspired by an East Hampton beach cottage, and will incorporate preppy props like tennis rackets, Persian rugs and shingled dog houses. In addition to the pop-up shops, the collection will be sold in Tommy Hilfiger stores as well as Tommy.com.

Prep World’s summer capsule collection combines European silhouettes with Americana motifs. For women, the nautical-inspired line includes anchor-print sundresses, T-shirts emblazoned with ropes and ships’ wheels, slim-fit striped knits, and skinny chinos in stretch twill with ankle zippers. There are also oxford shirt-dresses, loosely cinched with a rope belt and accessorized with grosgrain ribbon and French cuffs, and sailor-style chambray shorts. For men, the line includes engineer-striped linen blazers, slim-fit patchwork madras button-front shirts, striped marine tees, dip-dye polos and summer-weight chinos in fun colors. Retail prices range from $45 to $178 for women’s, and $35 to $298 for men’s.
