Tommy Hilfiger NYFW AW16: Nautical princesses
By Sarah Owen

New York: Tommy Hilfiger took to the sea for his Fall 2016 collection, injecting a dose of 40s classicism in a whimsical manner. The assortment was a charming collision of formal naval influences and romanticism, with masculine oversized coats atop feminine silk dresses and sparkly shoes. Each look was stylized with layers of unexpected fabrics and silhouettes, offering “a playful sense of irreverence and cinematic flair.” The bundle of contrasting elements in the show made for a theatrical production and the added glitz by way of sequins, embellishments, and clustered beading furthered the glam factor. – Sarah Owen
