New York: Celebrating his 25th anniversary with a ten pound book and star-studded runway show, Tommy Hilfiger did what he does best — slightly irreverent takes on the classic prep. With a stone catwalk flanked by strips of faux grass, the “twisted country club” theme featured colorful socks, vibrant loafers, pastel pants and more plaid than Scotland. Key items this season included cropped double-breasted blazers, club collar shirts, knit ties, suits with patterned tipping and playful takes on black tie attire. With preppy returning to the forefront of men’s fashion, and with the re-release of Take Ivy and a sequel to the Preppy Handbook, Tommy’s version of American sportswear remains appreciated and relevant.
