London: Todd Lynn’s brand of aggressively modern, yet minimal construction has been a bright spot on the London calendar for some time, his light palette softening a very strict style. A slim silhouette, asymmetry and unembellished, rich fabrics are all Lynn’s calling cards, and for S/S 11 he used them to create a lustrous, simple collection. Sand colored suiting featured a strong, but not cartoonish shoulder, as well as subtle panels of tonal metallics and seamless closures. Patches of contrasting materials appeared throughout, with rich snakeskin highlighting extended pockets, or a matte swath added to shimmering silk coats. One-shouldered sheath dresses echoed items seen on the New York runways, and fitted stretch bodysuits let interesting pants be the focus. Lynn’s use of an on-trend, feminine yet neutral color scheme offset his more edgy choices, providing urbane, directional customers with his most wearable pieces to date.
