London: As Todd Lynn’s PR team did not provide a press release for his collection, it is difficult to imagine what inspired the designer other than the work of Rick Owens. Owens’ profound influence over New York fashion (been in a Barneys Co-Op recently?) is increasingly crossing over the pond, and Lynn picked up on many of the designer’s signatures. The moody palette, fitted leather jackets, skinny leather pants, and cocoon like silhouettes were all there, but Lynn managed to add his own voice to the mix. Dresses incorporating draped skirts, wool busts, and leather arms looked fresh, as did wide-shouldered leather jackets with darts extending bust to shoulder. The designer’s tight pants seemed out of step in a season full of looser cuts – but skinny pants were in keeping with the tough biker look. The leather sleeves and fur trim on several looks underlined a hard, urban aesthetic that is more commonly associated with New York than London.
