New York: Design duo Timo Weiland and Alan Eckstein experimented with new ways to work with classic animal prints. They pixilated and scattered them for innovative prints. They also represented them in subtle ways with jacquards and brocades. A lace jacquard in a leopard pattern looked particularly fresh. Even sequin embellishments, placed in clusters on the front panels of tops and dress, took on animal-inspired shapes. In addition to the aforementioned lace, the designers also included a fair amount of chiffon, making sheers an emphasis for the season. There were a handful of sheer woven tees with an opaque panel across the chest, which are sure to become a hit among the label’s young clientele. With animal prints and sheers serving as key elements, one could easily imagine the show skewing too sexy, but Weiland and Eckstein kept it light and youthful with playful skirts, casual sweatshirts, and a great pair of slouchy pants.–Joanna Manganaro
