At WGSN Insider we’re going to bring you a round up of the biggest talking points in the city that take place on Thursday nights. This week was yet another mix of retail and fashion news, with a music influence.
New London retail space Hello Love came on our radar this week. And, Thursday night kicked off with a curated talk series from Selah Marley, daughter of Lauryn Hill and Rohan Marley, who is also a rising Gen Z model making her fashion mark right now. The topic was serious in tone, looking at the global black experience: the challenges and trauma, and how to heal from that, but there was also so much love in the room. And, the space was ideal, with crystals all around us, as well as vintage vinyl for sale, and other unique retail goods. Selah has curated a month long series of talks and music performances, that run until this weekend.
Denim fans were treated to a special Thursday night courtesy of Nanamica, the much-loved Japanese label, which produces stunning and hard-wearing outerwear. Retrospective pieces from both nanamica and North Face Purple Label were on display in the showroom on the night. The brand is a huge hit with our menswear team, and this archive book is a delight.
The rest of the week was equally busy, we stopped in at the kikki.K Christmas collection launch, the stationery brand that continues to grow in success. The event encouraged our editors to partake in some journalling and light yoga. It’s really interesting to see more traditional retail brands align with wellness practices for their launches, and this shows that stationery is now part of the bigger conversation around mind/body wellness.
With a zen mind set up, the rest of the weekend is all about balance, and mixing this wellness with a little party. Friday sees the launch of a new karaoke night called Ling-Ling’s Karaoke in Dalston set up by magazine art decor Zuki Turner. Visitors get to enjoy small plates, bottomless cocktails and karaoke. The poster itself designed by Zuki, goes to show that it’s going to be an elevated experience.
