Hair accessories – cute, versatile and not just for festival season. WGSN identified their growing popularity and potential significance to the retail market a while ago and now we’re starting to see how much impact they may have. Why are they set for success? These three reasons…

Power of the millennial: This ultra influential demographic is wearing, instagramming, and promoting jewellery-inspired headbands, halos, and hair charms to the masses creating must-have items in this niche market.

Celebrity red carpet exposure: With influential celebrities wearing over-the-top statement hair pieces at red carpet events and premieres in luxury materials, designer brands are trying to capitalize on this growing branch of the accessories industry.

Retail boom: Well known luxury e-comm brands have already started to get involved in this massive hair accessories movement including Net-A-Porter, ShopBop and Liberty of London – and the portfolio of sites that will be buying into this will only continue to increase.

Check out how we identified and tracked the trend with WGSN Trend Minute…
