Known as one of the quieter cities, style wise, during Fashion Week’s, New York show-goers have been shaking things up with flurries of colour and a sartorial take on tailoring; Our Associate Editor, Anna Ross picks the top 3 trends seen on the streets of New York this week.
As big a trend off the runway than on it, tailoring is seen in all shapes and sizes on the streets. Women look to power dressing in classic tailoring checks, with an emphasis on strong boxy shoulders or a nipped in waistline. We love the introduction of the sports scarf which adds a new subversive twist to this trend.
Call it the Sies Majan effect, or call it a big “stick you” to the doom and gloom of winter, sweet, sugary pastels have been brightening up the concrete jungle. Try teaming millennial pink with spearmint green for a modern and quirky twist.
We have Demna to thank for this one; big, chunky trainers are all over the streets of New York. Wearers are pairing looks with a cropped trouser, or a super-femme dress for a contemporary twist on day-to-night dressing.
