Stylesight’s editors are most certainly some of the biggest bibliophiles around, and most of us especially love spending time curled over a special magazine on lazy afternoons. While the more niche, the better, it’s vintage titles that we re-visit time and time again for research and inspiration.
So, imagine our surprise when we stumbled upon VFILES + Gallagher’s on Mercer Street in SoHo. It’s a collaborative space between Visionaire and Mike Gallagher (considered by many to be New York’s king of vintage magazines). The beautiful, sun-drenched space is made for hours of organized browsing through issues that thankfully predate airbrushing. Gallagher rotates through a 1 million issue library, so no two visits will be the same.
In a few weeks, they’ll launch the store’s website component, which, among other things, will feature a search engine powerful enough to let you sort (and purchase) nearly every magazine ever by person, theme or year.
