Paris: Once again Kenzo continued to impress with a grand show. Moving iridescent pillars resembling trees and Saint Etienne’s live performance left many devotees speechless. Even though the whole spectacle diverted viewers from the actual garments Humberto Leon and Carol Lim managed to cast a spell over the spectators and the clothes. “We explore togetherness through camaraderie, ceremony and protection,” the designer duo described in the show notes. Looks were defined by deconstructed draping and wrapping in layers of silk, knit, feathered edges and shearling spending extra warmth, portraying an urban nomad in the forest. A handkerchief hem skirt with an A-line poncho in forrest green shaped the opening of the show, followed by a moving backdrop part. Graphic dissected labyrinths, variegated stripes along distorted camouflage in black, green, yellow and red enwrapped models in Kenzo’s graphic manners. All in all a truly mesmeriscing mis-en scéne perfectly orchestrated with the collection. – Christa Kaufmann
