New York: Donna Karan, one of our most ubiquitous designers, drew upon her philosophy of ‘limitless flexibility’ and the seven easy pieces that form the basis for every woman’s wardrobe presenting a Pre-Fall collection ‘for a woman to personalize as desired’. Her collection was named ”The Uniform of Dressing” and as the show notes stated “a uniform soft as it is strong“.There were some literal military inspired pieces – a red jacket with brass buttons or a fabulous topcoat, nipped at the waist but the silhouette on the whole, was long and lean topped off with ultra-feminine covetable pieces. Karan added studs and grommets that were a little surprising based on the elegant and easy tailored offering – fluid, slouchy trouser in satin-banded stretch viscose paired with an oversize wrap – was exquisite . However, it was the cinched waists accentuating the female form  and a strategically knotted jersey dress that set the tone – versatile and ‘simply seductive’! – Lizzy Bowring
