“Creativity with a conscience” is the concept behind the Six Scents Fragrance Initiative, the ongoing charitable collaboration between Symrise, Metaproject, and Seven New York. Annually, the project pairs up six influential designers with prominent perfumers to collectively create six new limited edition fragrances that will be sold to benefit a selected charity. Last year, Gareth Pugh and Alexandre Herchcovitch were among the participants, and a portion of the proceeds was donated to Designers Against Aids. In addition to the six fashion designers involved this year (the list includes Phillip Lim and Henry Holland), the project will expand to include video artist, Marco Brambilla, botanical sculptural artist, Azuma Makoto and photographer Justin Edward John Smith. This year’s theme explores the relationship between art and our environment, and the project will benefit Pro-Natura in support of their environmental sustainability programs.
