The childlike charm of outsider art has made these pieces increasingly popular in the last few decades; untrained artists in their own world create informal and interesting works that fit in perfectly with the eclecticism and quirkiness of modern decorating. This example from the Brimfield Antique show has more appeal than just a piece of outsider art as so much attention and detail was given to the clothing. This amateur fashion sketch of corsets, window pane jackets with matching cod piece and graphic ombre pants could almost be an initial sketch for a Galliano show. The beautiful madness of the mind that created this work could have been the best designer we will never know.
