The New Yorker(s)

img_9719as.jpgHey – I didn’t get a chance to mention it yesterday, but August 5th was my 10th anniversary of living in New York City. I’m now officially a New Yorker! I started out here producing photo shoots and assisting in an office that represented fashion and celebrity photographers. I would assemble and organize the portfolios and soak in a lot of great images and think – “Wow, these guys have a pretty cool job.” Somewhere in the back of my mind, I wanted to do it myself. Now, 10 years on, I do make my living shooting fashion photos in New York – albeit on the street, rather than in a studio. This is really what being a New Yorker means to me – taking a dream or idea (that likely would remain a dream in other cities) and making it happen. Not to sound trite, but it really is true. In order for things to happen you have to be in the place where they are happening. This is still true today, even though the internet has helped break down some barriers of distance or locale. If you’ve been thinking about making a move of your own or pursuing your dream or a creative goal maybe you should get started on that today? 2018 is coming up fast. – xo eddie
