At WGSN we’ve curated your back-to-school reading list, but thankfully there are no algebra or geometry textbooks in sight. Instead we’ve compiled the latest fall fashion books, packed with industry stories from fashion’s most loved designers, tips on how to make it in fashion and advice from those who have changed the game (we’re looking at you Grace Coddington). Get your kindle ready for these new fashion book releases.
Grace: The American Vogue Years

Grace Coddington is widely known for her extraordinary time at Vogue where she served as the creative director for nearly 30 years, and her decades of influential work is available to see in her new visual book. This book is composed of nearly 300 of Coddington’s most notable photoshoots from the past fifteen years, which as she states, have been influenced by film, art, photography and literature over the decades. This timely release comes after Grace transitioned into American Vogue’s creative director at large in January of 2016, which enables Coddington to work on her additional global projects, as well as still contribute greatness to the magazine.

Neville Jacobs: I’m Marc’s Dog

Although creating social media accounts for house pets has become somewhat of a norm in today’s media age, designer Marc Jacobs has taken the title of a man’s best friend to a new level with his dog Neville. The social media canine star has nearly 200k followers on Instagram, which is essentially his online diary holding all of his exciting doggie fashion business including his naps, walks, various photoshoot’s and lunches with supermodels. The photo book will encompass professional photos of Neville from his puppyhood to present day, and the only question left to ask is whether our not our lives will ever be as glamourous as the black-and-white bull terrier? (trick question, his life will always be more exciting).

Yves Saint Laurent: The Scandal Collection 1971

Yves Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 1971 Libération collection was a major controversial moment within the fashion history- so major it caused the designer to take a break from the fashion world after being heavily criticized by the press and his peers within the industry. The collection had its own exhibition in 2015 at the Foundation Pierre Berge-Yves Saint Laurent in Paris, and now Olivier Saillard and Dominique Veillon have turned this exhibition into a book which will be composed of an eclectic remembrance of the Spring/Summer 1971 events, from the preliminary stages of design with sketches and fabrics, to the show itself and all of the backlash that followed.
