Handmade, tactile ceramic designs using earthy materials are trending for S/S 16. One Instagram account is already fully on trend, says WGSN Lifestyle & Interiors Editor Gemma Riberti

Ceramics form a key part of my Interiors moodboard here at WGSN, and recently they have really come into their own.

Thanks to clever adaptations of traditional ceramic techniques and a renewed demand for handmade and organic lines, pots, bowls and striking wall ceramic and clay decorations have never been so popular.

For S/S 16, key trends have emerged celebrating rough, raw and natural textures and designs, which work to celebrate imperfections rather than covering them up. One Instagram account that hits this note perfectly comes out of Los Angeles, and I immediately fell in love it, after scrolling and discovering the account.

Tactile Matter, the Instagram and corresponding ceramics e-commerce shop is created by illustrator Kenesha Sneed, and shows off her desert-inspired stoneware ceramics products.

Each handcrafted piece is displayed on makeshift props, side tables and worktops as well as held by hand, offering a highly curated visual feast for ceramic lovers. Below are some of my favourite images, bookmark immediately:
