Oscar Wilde sure has been a popular influence for Milan Fashion Week, and for the last show of the week, he made for an impactful finale. D&G sent out a runway full men who could easily be cast as characters in one of his comedies (or tragedies, depending on how you view the times). Bits of Rococo adorned the clothes in the form of ornate swirls on velvets and closures on jackets. The designers seem eager to explore an aspect of formality more and more each season. The military jackets were the strongest items, worn with distressed jeans, shirts, and pants printed with rococo trims, not unlike how Coldplay’s Chris Martin has styled himself as of late. The lush fabrics and rich colors were some of the strongest of the week, and the printed ornate details on some jackets and shirts let some playfulness waltz back into the collection.
