Hey – a strange thing happened when I woke up this morning…I looked outside…and……it’s autumn in New York!! No really, that’s not just the name of a depressing Winona Ryder movie – it actually is autumn in New York! OK, well there aren’t any colorful leaves blowing through Central Park just yet – but the tents are going up in Bryant Park (yay!), kids are back from the Hamptons, new Gossip Girl episodes are on TV. What do you mean it’s 90 degrees outside? It’s autumn damn it! hee hee Well, now that we don’t have to worry about racing to the beach every weekend (leisure can be a bit exhausting) let’s talk about some indoor activities to look forward to, shall we? How about that upcoming Ladyhawke album, huh? Are you pumped? The truth is though that the remixes of her tracks actually blow away the album versions. I’ve hyped some of the mixes on my “Sound of Style” playlist here on the blog recently – maybe you’ve noticed. Her neo-Stevie Nicks vocals are stunning when paired with the right production and move over Ting Tings – she’s my current music fave. Plus her vocals make that new PNAU track by far the best thing they’ve ever done. That track is incredible. She’s just announced a few US tour dates as well – she’s only playing 4 cities and unfortunately New York isn’t one of them. Oh wait a minute…scratch that. Of course New York is one of the dates silly! How quickly we forget…this is New York City!! She’s playing her debut US live show in NYC on Oct. 14th at Santa’s Party House. (I refuse to call it Santo’s.) There’s so much going on before that though, it feels like Oct. 14th is like a year from now. I’m heading over to Brooklyn shortly to shoot the fashionindie runway show that’s happening on the Brooklyn Bridge at 6pm tonight. It’s a chance for cool Brooklyn fashion labels like Mandate of Heaven to steal a bit of the limelight from Bryant Park and get a jump on the official start date of Fashion Week. Oh, did I mention the show is happening on the Brooklyn Bridge?!! Speaking of jumping the start date, I’m really looking forward to Sue Stemp‘s dinner party and presentation of her Spring collection on this Thurs. evening, Sept. 4th. That’s the evening before the shows kick off in the tents of course. Finally, please take note of the item below…you are going to need one of these…
On Sept. 6th, reps from LSY…err, YSL will hand out 5,000 of these cotton totes for free at an undisclosed location in Manhattan. Call me crazy but I’m thinking the main lobby tent at Bryant Park might be a good place to start your search for one. They are going to repeat this stunt in Paris, London, Milan, Tokyo, and Hong Kong later this year. Ebay much?
