The men’s European shows ended with a standing ovation for Lanvin’s menswear designer, Lucas Ossendrijver and creative director Alber Elbaz. The applause was more than justified as this talented designer took the season’s key relaxed shapes a step further by “catching” the volume with elastic (for tighter cuffs and waistbands). He used techy looking featherweight fabrics for jackets and outerwear which he mixed to great effect with tight-fit jacquard knits. And the colors! The subdued washed taupes and earthy tones were a breath of fresh air after a week’s worth of fluorescents and a sea of black and white. Directional and wearable, now that’s worth applauding!
