Paris: There is always a sense of calm and serenity around Stella McCartney’s presentations, embodying the fact that she knows exactly what she is doing. The easy nonchalance that infused her collection began with a black coat cut with a floating handkerchief skirt and matched with fluted hem pants and it flowed from there. She created fluid movement throughout from the pants that were exquisitely tailored with paper-bag waistbands and deep cuffs to the ribbed knit sweaterdresses that were slashed on a slant and opened at the side revealing bare shoulders – seamlessly seductive. In her show notes, it stated Celebrating freedom” and “exploring classics” which translated meant creating fluidity out of structure. The languid ease continued for evening as McCartney carefully crafted dresses and seperates with stunning asymmetric necklines, peplums and new proportions in a swathe of lush metallic jacquards, brocades and fluid crepes, complete with a double strand of pearls.
