Designers and their muses from seasons past:
Clockwise from L to R: Isaac Mizrahi with Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista, Hedi Slimane and Agness Deyn, Tom Ford and Natasha Richardson, Alexander Wang and Erin Wasson, Francisco Costa and Liv Tyler, Valentino and Claudia Schiffer.
Tonight at the Costume Institute’s annual gala the theme is The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion. It focuses on iconic fashion models including Lisa Fonssagrives, Peggy Moffitt, Iman, Nadja Auermann, Gisele Bündchen, Veruschka, Twiggy, and Naomi Campbell. The model as muse will be celebrated along with their integral role in inspiring some of the world’s most notable fashion trends.
The designer-model connection will not be limited to the exhibit. Word has it that on opening night Marc Jacobs will dress fellow co-host, Kate Moss in his own design. Gisele Bündchen will attend on John Galliano’s arm; Lauren Hutton will be accompanied by Michael Kors; Lily Donaldson is reported to have teamed up with Narciso Rodriguez; and Heidi Klum will walk the stairs of the Metropolitan Museum with Gilles Mendel.
