The collaborative venture between Comme des Garçons and its Hong Kong based franchise partner, I.T. Group, has been all the buzz in Beijing since the project was announced. Finally, on December 30th, the 20,000-square-foot concept store was unveiled.
Based off of Comme des Garçons’ Dover Street Market in London, the Chinese capital welcomes the unique retail environment of I.T. Beijing Market where fashion and art intimately interact. Life-size sculptures are strategically placed to playfully communicate with nearby merchandise while commanding the attention of shoppers. While exploring these quirky and clever twists that designer is known for keep an eye out for other displays and designs in which the intricate details are not so blatant.
This ever so carefully curated store offers 15 lines from Comme des Garçons and a selection of Rei Kawakubo’s favorite designers like, Maison Martin Margiela, Rick Owens, Dior Homme, Thom Browne, Ann Demeulemeester, and Hussein Chalayan.
