From inspiring interiors to cool faded facades from around the globe. WGSN Associate Editor Textiles Julia Skliarova picks her favourite images
Instagram is the ultimate visual feast, with a mix of everything from outfit posts to city travel inspiration. However, for someone who works with textiles like I do, Instagram is a great place to find surface and materials inspirations. Here’s my pick of the favourite accounts that inspire me daily:
1. Jessica Walsh shares her devotion to odd and unconventional art and installations with punchy images displaying an offbeat relationship between clashing colours and bold forms.
A playful mix of mirrored surfaces and powdery textures is easily transferable into inspiration for accessories, activewear and interiors.
2. The Daily Texture documents natural and man-made materials, bound by their highly tactile qualities and aged aesthetics.
The decaying textures of peeling paint layers, rust patinas and woodgrain surfaces provide inspiration for mixed-media textiles, fabric finishes and interiors.
3. Tekla Evelina Severin’s eye is drawn to playful compositions in architecture and interiors.
Glossy ceramic, smooth marble and powdery concrete surfaces are displayed within a dynamic balance of grids and curves, played out in a soft palette of candy pastels for a fresh, graphic and optimistic look.
