September is a busy month at WGSN headquarters as fashion week and trade show season kicks off. We’re everywhere from backstage to front row at the catwalk shows and jetting off to cover trade shows all over the world; our team of editors is constantly on the go.

So, this week, we asked five of our editors to reveal that one essential that they deem to be the best in beauty, that key item they keep on hand at all times to help them survive the crazy month filled with fashion shows, after-parties and trade fairs.

Check out their must-have secret beauty weapons below…

1. Anna Ross – Catwalks Associate Editor

MAC‘s Ruby Woo never lets me down. It’s such a classic shade and instantly perks up my look no matter how worn out I get during fashion week. Plus, it stays put no matter how many proseccos I drink at the after-parties.

Running around backstage at fashion week requires make-up that won’t shift – what with the heat of 100 lightbulbs and 100 bodies in an often too small space it gets hot and sweaty in no time. Which really isn’t a good look. Luckily enough the wonders of Kat Von D beauty have arrived in the UK this month, exclusively at Debenhams, and I have become slightly obsessed with the Shade + Light Face Contour Palette which I won’t be letting out of my sight over the next few weeks. With six matte shades to contour and highlight, it subtly shapes the face, adding definition and light in silky soft pigment that lasts all day long. Oh and the accompanying double-ended brush is encased in a coffin-shaped box which is just plain fun, lets be honest.

3. Emily Cater – City by City Travel Associate Editor

Although I have several go-to beauty products that see me through the craziness that is fashion week, the one product I absolutely can’t live without is my YSL Touche Eclat. A classic product to be found in every fashion & beauty editor’s bag, this product works brilliantly to cover up any dark circles and under eye bags while highlighting the face for a healthy glow. So, on the outside it appears as if I’ve had nine hours sleep when in fact it’s only five.

4. Laura Yiannakou – Womenswear Editor

I’m a huge fan of Bare Minerals, particularly the Mineral Veil product. I like natural-looking make-up, so this provides me with an even coverage and the powder form makes it very light and non-greasy – great for keeping shine at bay when I’m running around attending fashion shows.

5. Ella Hudson – Accessories & Footwear Senior Editor

During fashion month all eyes may be on the catwalks but for footwear and accessories some of the most exciting stuff happens at the tradeshows and presentation spaces around the four fashion capitals. This morning, I’m flying out to New York to attend no less than five tradeshows and the number one beauty product that I am ensuring gets through security with me is my MAC Lady Danger lipstick. It¹s the perfect red because it has an orange undertone and its matte finish gives a good level of intensity that draws attention away from my tired post-long-haul-flight eyes.
