Korea is said to be 10 years ahead of the rest of the world when it comes to skincare innovations. Yes, 10 years! Korean women also have the most amazing skin. Just look at all the k-pop stars and celebrities. Flawless! And I must admit I’ve always been fascinated by their 10 step plus beauty regime and curious how they find the time every morning and night to undertake this beautifying routine. On a recent trip to Asia I was lucky enough to spend some time in Seoul. It is a beauty addict’s dreamland, with cosmetic stores on every corner of the street filled with a treasure trove of beauty products. Here are five beauty spots worth checking out.

1.Beauty Food

Merging a beauty store with a cafe serving healthy food and drinks, Skinfood‘s flagship concept store ranks high on my list of beauty destinations to hang out at after a spot of shopping. Set over three floors, here you’ll find all the beauty products you need from face masks and make-up products to a cozy cafe and a rooftop garden to relax in while sipping pineapple iced tea.

2.East meets West

Located in the trendy Gangnam-gu area, Erborian‘s new store is worth paying a visit to if you’re in the neighbourhood. The store’s eye-catching, bright red signage ensures you won’t miss it. Upon entering, the shop is as striking as it is on the outside fusing a mix of Korean traditional elements with a chic Parisian apartment interior design. It carries every product from the brand and if you haven’t tried it before I highly recommend the BB and CC creams.

3.Celebrity salon

SoonSoo is a popular hair and beauty salon among Korean celebrities where famous stars get their hair and make-up done before the big shows or events. IT girl Irene Kim is said to get her bright coloured hair dyed here too. An army of the industry’s best Korean hair and make-up artists are on hand to transform your look from day to night.

4.Green Cafe

Similar to SkinFood’s concept store and cafe, Innisfree‘s Green Cafe in Samcheongdong features an impressive two floors, housing a beauty shop and cafe with an outdoor seated balcony area to take in the impressive views. Hot and cold beverages such as juices, teas and coffees are offered alongside a delicious menu of desserts such as banana cake and honey tarts to healthy, hot soups.

This multi-branded boutique is like a Space NK in Seoul. You’ll find a good mix of premium and niche international beauty names, merchandised according to product category making it easy to find exactly what you need. The Belport flagship shop, located in Garosu-Gil in the Sinsa area, carries everything you need from skincare to make-up to perfumes and scented candles. There is also a spa in the basement offering a series of beauty treatments for those in need of a spot of pampering.
