The Beauty-Full Week: Top 5 beauty gifts not to miss

So it’s Christmas again. The first week of December and there’s a smattering of cheer in the form of classic Mariah blaring around the office. Too soon? Perhaps, but who really cares. It only comes but once a year.
In my capacity as one of the beauty editors here at WGSN I’ve been privy to the gifts now filling the stores since July, but as the festive season is truly upon us, I’m allowing myself to get into the spirit and suss out those extra special gifts that would make for a crowd of appreciation come the big day. Not that I buy gifts purely for admiration, of course, but, you know, it helps.

Here are five that I have my eye on, that might inspire you to buy for a friend or two.

Diptyque Advent Calendar:
Beauty advent calendars have become somewhat of a must-have in recent years, with brands out doing each other with the size and calibre of hidden treats behind their 25 marvelous doors. This one from Diptyque, however, has got to be the creme de la creme, with a host of goodies ranging from miniature candles to perfume to body products all housed within a beautifully decadent Art Deco style box. Whether a Diptyque virgin or a member of the converted, this offering – although eye wateringly priced – is worth every penny, and will leave you smelling like a beautiful bouquet well into the New Year.

Too Cool For School Dinoplatz Holiday Lip Balm Set:
Anyone au fait with my beauty ways will know I’m a sucker for all things cute and kitschy, so a trip to Seoul just last month was the perfect opportunity for me to revel in the wonders that is K-beauty. Now, Europe is being somewhat slow on the uptake but bits and bobs of this worldwide phenomenon are starting to creep in and we’re lucky enough to have one of my favourite brands, Too Cool For School available to buy on this tiny island. (If you’re in New York a whole store has just opened up on Lafayette street – jealous much?) For Christmas, make sure you catch this limited edition lip balm set from their Dinoplatz range. Highly pigmented, each jelly-textured balm is infused with Argan, primrose and rose hip oils for super hydration and unrivaled coverage.

Jo Malone Christmas Cracker:
We all love a cracker – that little frisson of excitement as the snapper goes pop and we hunt around on the floor trying to find the treat. Now imagine that treat isn’t a plastic tool set but rather a bounty of rather wonderful Jo Malone products (that you’ll actually use) and you see the appeal of this gift. Housed within a decadent black, white and golden box inspired by magic and mayhem, how ridiculously stoked would you be if you got to the Christmas table and this was in pride of place at your setting?

Atelier Cologne Ambre Nue Introductory Gift Set:
If your giftee of choice is rather experimental with their scent, this gift set from French powerhouse Atelier Cologne is a great shout. Featuring a 30ml sampling of the brand’s Ambre Nue fragrance – a mix of fresh green mandarin, orchid, jasmine, benzoin and tonka bean – as well as a soap, leather pouch and set of four postcards, it’s a short but sweet dive into the fragrance house’s world.

EOS Lip Balm Set:
To start, I’m aware that this is the second lip based pressie I’ve included in this list but, again, if you knew me, you’d know that my lips are the bane of my life and need all the attention they can get, so this wee gift is a gift to myself. Incorporating three of the cult EOS lip balms in varying flavours, the brand has added some festive sparkle with packaging adorned in gems and dazzling designs – so when you’re hydrating that pout you’re doing it with a little extra style.
