As a beauty editor I’ve been lucky enough to attend some amazing press events, but one that stands out is the prestigious Marie Claire Prix D’Excellence de la Beaute Awards, which happens once a year. Held in Claridge’s in London and now in its 30th year, the award ceremony (which took place last night) honours the very best and innovative products in beauty from skincare and make-up to hair, as voted by an international panel of judges including Marie Claire UK’s beauty and style director Lisa Oxenham.

“The Prix D’Excellence de la Beauté Awards celebrate the very best products used by the most talented beauty experts in the industry,” said Trish Halpin, editor-in-chief of Marie Claire. “Winning an award not only brings prestige but guides beauty fans everywhere to these latest must-have products.”

Here are three of the winning products to add to your beauty bag this year.

Lancome Miracle Cushion
Not quite a foundation or a BB cream, this hybrid, liquid base in a compact features a sponge-like cushion infused with tinted foundation. It delivers a fresh and natural complexion thanks to hydrating extracts of ester oil and glycerine as well as adenosine, which is known to give anti-wrinkle benefits. One judge said: “The base looks perfectly natural, with a velvety finish that improves a dull complexion.” This practical compact makes it easy to apply make-up on the go and the buildable coverage ensure skin looks amazing throughout the day.

Shiseido Expert Sun Aging Protection Lotion SPF30
A summer holiday must-have, this sunscreen features a groundbreaking WetForce technology so when skin comes into contact with water or perspiration the product becomes even more effective in protecting against UV rays. It can also be used wet and the SuperVeil 360 technology forms a protective veil over the skin for extra sun protection at every angle.

Giorgio Armani Crema Nuda
This product was named as the most innovative product of the year by Marie Claire, with Oxenham describing it as a wonder cream: “I hate the feeling of anything on my skin, but was so impressed by the barely there feel,” she said. At £145 a pop, it’s a bit on the pricey side but the skin effects are said to be incredible. This sheer tinted cream contains light-reflecting pigments to blurs imperfections and illuminate skin for an instant healthy glow, while the 12 hours of hydration leaves complexion looking dewy and moisturised.
