Valentine’s Day isn’t just for loved-up couples, single people deserve some romance too. WGSN Beauty Editor Theresa Yee picks the best buys to gift yourself
One thing that I’ve noticed this February is that less and less beauty brands are offering specific Valentine’s Day gifts for the most romantic day of the year. However, the cosmetic brands that have launched new products have gone all out with love-themed gift sets and products featuring bold pink packaging, rose ingredients and floral scents. Here are five products on my Valentine’s Day wishlist.
1. Fresh Rose Face Mask
One thing I love about Fresh products is the divine smell and luxurious textures. For its 15th birthday, the brand has given its hero Rose Face Mask a mini makeover. The packaging features intricate floral patterns designed by Jo Ratcliffe – a London-based artist known for her hand-drawn illustrations and animations for the likes of Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo and Sephora. The face mask formula hasn’t changed – it still contains pure rosewater, real rose petals, cucumber and aloe vera. After 10 minutes, skin is left fresh and hydrated.
2. Diptyque Rosaviola Scented Candle
I’m obsessed with Diptyque scented candles and this little gem caught my eyes thanks to its bold and bright bubblegum pink packaging stamped with scarlet and fuchsia lipstick motifs. Designed in collaboration with fashion designer Olympia Le-Tan, this limited edition candle sees the brand’s iconic logo reinvented with an embroidery design that pays homage to the fashion designer’s signature handbags. The scent is made from a blend of roses and violets.
3. Dolce & Gabbana Dolce Rosa Excelsa EDP
This fresh floral scent from Dolce & Gabbana is the latest new addition to the brand’s Dolce fragrance line. It opens with fresh notes of neroli leaves and papaya before revealing a delicate rosy aroma thanks to African dog rose and Turkish rose absolute. It is beautifully presented in a frosted light pink tinted glass bottle accessorized with a black ribbon and a crimson flower cap.
4. Jo Malone Red Roses Bath Oil
A classic favourite of mine, Jo Malone’s Red Roses Bath Oil blends together seven rose extracts sourced from around the world to leave the bathroom smelling like a bouquet of freshly cut flowers. Infused with sweet almond, jojoba seed and avocado oils, it leaves skin feeling beautifully soft and hydrated.
5. Nails Inc Alex Hearts Nail Polish
Designed by Alexa Chung, this pretty Alex Hearts topcoat features tiny red heart shapes. It can be worn alone on bare fingertips for a subtle look or applied over coloured nails for a bold statement.
