New year, new beauty brands and products. January is the perfect time to try out something new and 2017 looks set to be another exciting year with a bucket full of beauty newness.
While 2016 was all about my obsession with K-beauty products (although I won’t be giving up on the face sheet masks and sleeping masks just yet) or the 10-step plus beauty ritual, this year I’m ready to detox by de-cluttering the amount of products I use on a daily basis and challenging myself to be more creative with my make-up. Below, I’ve selected 5 new products and brands to kick-start the New Year with a beauty bang and beat those January blues.
1. Beauty Pie
Beauty Pie is shaking up the beauty industry in a big way. It offers a vast array of products that costs a fraction of the price you usually pay at retail. Launched last month by Marcia Kilgore, the brainchild behind Bliss Spa, Fit Flops and Soap & Glory, the premise behind the brand is simple. A monthly £10 subscription allows you to buy from a selection of cosmetics, paying only factory prices (you buy straight from the supplier cutting the middle man). A mascara costs £1.93, a lipstick only £2.87, eyeliner is £2.41 and foundations are at a reasonable £4.75. It provides members with full transparency on price, so you know exactly what you are paying for. However, if you are not a member you can still shop products online but pay a premium price. If you’re a make-up junkie, then it’s definitely worth having a slice of this (beauty) pie.
2. Lipstick Queen Lipstick Chess Collection
New this month is this gorgeous collection of lippies from Lipstick Queen
– a brand that never disappoints with new product launches (remember Frog Princess – the lipstick that transforms from green to pink on application?). For 2017, the brand has released a playful chess-themed collection of lipsticks that pays homage to this classic board game. Named after different chess pieces, the six piece line-up features shades that range from a moody plum and rich red to neutral pinks. Packaged in black and white bullets, the lipsticks are loaded with hydrating extracts, vitamin E and natural oils to leave lips moisturized.
3. La Eva
Mark this name in your February calendar as it’s not been released just yet. As a beauty editor, I am always on the look out for new brands and La Eva got me pretty excited. The collection is pretty unique and small – there is only two products: a body wash and a lotion in a choice of two lovely scents. Roseum incorporates notes of rose, petigrain, clove and geranium for a relaxing mix, while Blu sees chamomile, cedarwood and vetiver blended together for a soothing aroma. The Soil Association approved products come packaged in elegant bottles which will look super pretty in your bathroom.
4. Clinique Crayola Chubby Lip Crayon Box
This is a match made in beauty heaven.
The beloved childhood school stationary, Crayola, has teamed up with beauty brand Clinique Clinique to launch a limited edition collection of 10 Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balms. Names of the products from Clinique paired with the most popular Crayola colours to form fun new names such as Razzmatazz, Mango Tango and Tickle Me Pink.
5. Kylie Cosmetics Royal Peach Palette
Kylie Jenner’s first cosmetic launch of 2017 is this blockbuster of a make-up palette. Jenner first teased her millions of followers with a sneak preview of the product late last year on her Snapchat account, and now it’s been finally revealed. Royal Peach Palette contains a massive 12 eye colours with a selection of peachy tones and a royal blue that adds a vibrant twist. Blue is a big trend in make-up right now, so this palette is totally on-trend for the season.
