New York: Thakoon brought modernity to pastels this season, spinning the pale shades into a lovely assortment of felted wool coats with Mongolian lamb patch pockets, paneled cable knit tops and fuzzy miniskirts. Soft, molded protection defined each ensemble, as Thakoon’s textures and delicate palette played against his highly constructed silhouettes. Inflated sleeves, creative layering and touches like printed faux-lace made nearly every piece special. Separates were the innovative winners here, but the designer’s signature dresses didn’t disappoint either, with gathered waist full-skirted frocks the very embodiment of wearable staples.—Nina Stotler
