Ter et Bantine

Milan: A sense of elemental, prehistoric protection ran throughout Manuela Arcari’s Fall collection for Ter et Bantine, a mood expressed via numerous thick leather pieces and shaggy unfinished furs. Tunics, vests and coats crafted from double-faced skins featured funnel necks and fitted structure as well as padding or bonding to create a uniform shell. When she wasn’t encasing the body in leather armor, Arcari wrapped it in thick wool scarves printed with a geometric repeat, tucking the swath of fabric across cashmere suiting like a sash. This draped technique also applied to fur, which ran in wild asymmetric swaths around jackets and coats. Although Arcari mostly stuck to solid black and white, a blurred animal print fit nicely into her Fall theme and added dimension to a distressed a-line leather skirt suit as well as several feminine wrap skirts and cocoon coats.—Nina Stotler
