The chic and stylish Mendeli Street Hotel has recently opened in the heart of Tel Aviv. Located nearby to stunning beaches and also the bustling city center, the hotel has 66 rooms and Five, a grill restaurant headed up by renowned chef Rafi Cohen. The hotel prides itself on showcasing local and up-and-coming designers through design features and includes notable names such as post-graffiti artist Know Hope and fashion designer Tamar Primak. Eran Steinbach says: “We wanted to be more than just a functioning hotel, we wanted to give back to the community. Mendeli Street is an example of how hotels and any hospitality institutions, big or small, can represent the talents of local designers and creatives in their cities”. Originally opened in the 1970s, in 2011 third-generation owners Irit and Eran Steinbach started the extensive renovation program on the hotel, transforming it into a stylish urban boutique hotel. Despite the sophisticated interior design that sees the majority of the exterior wall now comprising of glass partitions, the hotel retains a distinctly laid-back feel embodying the spirit of its surroundings in Tel Aviv. –Babette Radclyffe-Thomas
