Ted Lapidus returns with Lapidus Vintage

Diffusion Ted Lapidus in L’Officiel n.595, 1972; Lapidus Vintage F/W 2011-12

French designer Ted Lapidus‘ rise in the ranks of high fashion paralleled the rise of women in the workplace, with his assertive tailoring and practical sportswear separates proving popular additions to the proverbial professional wardrobe from the 60s-80s. An obsession with marine style– notably naval and military-inspired outerwear– yielded a continuous flow of smart tailored coats and jackets that define the designer’s legacy today.  Fast forward to 2010, when son Olivier Lapidus launched new women’s line Lapidus Vintage, reprising his father’s legacy of stylish & pragmatic separates for a new generation.  Now in its second season, there is much to rejoice about in Olivier’s smart outerwear and easy separates, sold exclusively at the Maria Luisa shop-in-shop at Printemps Paris, Barney’s New York, and select boutiques from Beirut to Moscow.  A handful of our favorite looks from the current collection feature below, following inspirational editorial images of the original Ted Lapidus lines in L’Officiel magazine, 1970s.
