NATURE VS. GEOMETRY
New York: Wild, lush florals coexisted with controlled geometric shapes for Johnny Talbot and Adrian Runhof’s Pre-Fall collection. The natural imagery juxtaposed with the precision of the geometrics made for an interesting dichotomy and elevated the classic items that the design duo presented. Curve-hugging sheaths, slim pants, and tailored coats were among the many covetable basics offered. Asymmetrical, draped pieces provided a necessary respite from the more rigorous styles. Closing the collection were a range of elegant cocktail dresses, many featuring shimmering pavé sequins and/or sexy leather panels. Flattering gathering appeared on the torsos of others. It was easy to imagine a sophisticated screen star appearing in one of these numbers during the upcoming awards show season. –Joanna Manganaro
