T by Alexander Wang Pre-Fall 2013

New York: T by Alexander Wang has come a long way from its humble beginnings as a T-shirt label. This season’s offering was composed of far more than simple jersey. There were matte wool suitings, slinky silks, and even luxurious leather and suede. The well-rounded collection included many favorites from seasons past, such as sheer button-ups, leather leggings, and sporty bra tops. Tailored jackets showed maturity and finesse, while hourglass dresses – the best of which featured a criss-crossed halter neckline – were short and sexy. The limited color palette echoed the sparseness of the designs. Wang’s hip clients aren’t interested in embellishment. What they desire are simple basics with a downtown sensibility, and Wang never fails to give them just that.–Joanna Manganaro
