Stylesight’s Graphic Team loves the work of Mario Hugo, a New York-based artist, designer and illustrator.
His surreal and almost haunting graphics are often sketched with graphite on found paper, offering a fresh, modern take on hand-rendered artworks. The fine pencil illustrations are so detailed they could quite easily be mistaken for photographs.
Mario tends to work with a tonal color palette, and sparse color pops highlight hidden details in these intriguing montages. A combination of geometric shapes and abstract forms generates an experimental body of work – he is certainly one to watch!
