It may come as a surprise to hear that we’re HUGE football fans @ Stylesight. Even though we were all out of town covering various tradeshows and events we made sure to catch last weeks game…. Super Bowl XLIV on Sunday, February 7th between the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts. In its honor, we organized a small recap of the game and a brief journey down memory lane. Through the stroll, we’re showcasing the Colts and the Saints heritage – old school uniforms, players and throwback merchandise. Not to mention a brief synopsis of the 2010 festivities in Miami at the Sun Life Stadium…

If you haven’t been living underneath a rock, you know by now that the New Orleans Saints won the 2010 Super Bowl. It was a tight showdown between the Colts and the Saints – 31 to 17 – yet those boys from Louisiana ended up taking home the Vince Lombardi trophy. During the halftime, legendary rockers, The Who performed classics from their catalog of hits – including “Pinball Wizard” and “Baba O’Riley”.

Quarterbacks Peyton Manning (Colts) and Drew Brees (Saints) put up a good fight and provided many plays that will be talked about for years to come and of course watched on NFL Films. (Who doesn’t like watching those classic flicks?!) Saints’ Reggie Bush also had a few memorable moments from the game that were worthy to mention. Fun fact: Bush was the recipient of the 2005 Heisman Trophy…and…..is the boyfriend of reality star, Kim Kardashian.

Archie Manning – Peyton and Eli Manning’s father – was a quarterback back in 70s for the Saints. Pretty interesting to see things come full circle within the family as Peyton now plays for the Colts. Speaking of the Colts, Johnny Unitas, was considered the best quarterback of his era during the late 50s and early 60s back when the team was actually from Baltimore, Maryland, not Indianapolis, Indiana!

Vintage NFL football gear, pennants and memorabilia can strike a design chord of interest for anyone who is creative thinker. It shows where a sports franchise initially got its start and how far it has come through the years. Throwback jerseys are a popular choice – even today – for teams to wear on the field for special games.

We had to leave you with this last photo of New Orleans Saint’s owner, Tom Benson, and his wife strutting down the field after one of his victories. He’s a legend in the NFL and known for his plentiful enthusiasm and dandy-like panache of dressing in honor of his team. Go Saints!
