In its 10th year, Summer Solstice Yoga in Times Square took place on June 20th and attracted over 1,400 passionate yogis, smack dab in the middle of the busiest city in the world. Sponsored by Athleta and The Times Square Alliance, the event is intended to celebrate summer and bring people together to practice in an alternative, unique space. Several classes took place, first beginning at 7:30 – with enough time for New Yorkers to get to work afterward. Afternoon sessions continued with the last evening class, taught by instructor Dana Flynn, at 8:30pm.
Considering the offices of the Active Team are only a few blocks away from Times Square, we made our way over to the festivities to check things out. We wanted to share a few photos we captured of the committed yogis who braved 100 degree NYC heat! And not to mention, some pretty cool active apparel. – Jessica Kaplan
