Stylesight Inspires Barneys

Back in May, Stylesight’s Vintage Editor, Cullen Meyer, discovered a treasure in the pocket of a coat he purchased at an estate sale. An old matchbook advertising Barneys’ “nationally advertised brands” came from the 1920s, a time when the store was known not for the fashion-forward styles of today, but rather showroom samples and factory cancellations. We shared the image with the executives at Barneys New York who were so inspired by the matchbook, they took it to Band of Outsiders’ Scott Sternberg to design an exclusive holiday collection around it. Called “No Bunk! No Junk!”, the line, which just hit six Barneys locations for the holidays, includes a few spot-on basics, all done in black and white. It’s Sternberg’s “slightly twisted take on power-dressing” with a retro spin.
