British small batch denim brand Story mfg. step into S/S 15 with its first ever lookbook, Island Journey.
Story mfg. has made quite an impact in the denim industry over the past year since its launch at the beginning of 2014. Their focus on slow manufacturing and season-less product drops as well as their stunning array of hand-loomed denim goods have resonated well with denim fans looking for something alternative to the amass of traditional raws in todays market. While Story’s vintage-inspired silhouettes nod to traditional workwear looks, the brand pushes itself forward with a contemporary palette of summery pastels and natural vegetable dyed indigos that you simply won’t find in any other brand out there. Whats more the products are all ethically sourced and support local artisans in unexplored territories and then produced proudly here in the UK.
Founders (and partners) Katy Katazome and Bobbin Threadbare are slowly building the brand,; they recently set up shop on London’s Regents Canal where they reside in an unconventional narrow boat showroom (check out our studio visit here), and for S/S 15 they have just released there debut lookbook. Described as an “adventure (and kind of love) story” the lookbook came about when pictures surfaced on Instagram of a Story mfg. enthusiast exploring Hong Kong. Here’s how it goes:
On the 20th of January (or, thereabouts) – Miles was wearing his Time Jacket while walking around Hong Kong. Renee saw it, liked it, and asked where it was from. They spoke about Story, Renee tried on his jacket, and they resolved to meet again.
When they next met, Renee took some photographs – which she shared on Instagram. They were so rich with colour and feeling that we asked them to shoot a lookbook for us. Here is our selection of looks captured by Renee and Miles on their trip to Tap Mun.
