Still no Wrinkles at 50

I’m a Barbie girl in the Barbie world
Life in plastic, it’s fantastic
You can brush my hair, undress me everywhere
Imagination, life is your creation

Come on, Barbie, let’s go party

Barbie, a symbol of timeless beauty and style, has shown she can evolve with the times while maintaining her signature look.  She represents the dreamy-eyed girl in all of us.  To celebrate her 50th birthday, Barbie became the official icon and theme of the Bryant Park tents during Fashion Week. A runway show with Barbie dolls brought to life featured looks designed by the likes of Diane Von Furstenberg, Norma Kamali, Juicy Couture, Michael Kors, and Tommy Hilfiger, plus shoes by Christian Louboutin. And, yes, there was even a Ken to walk hand-in-hand with several Barbies (he’s history’s ultimate player!).

Also getting into the celebration was the Bloomingdale’s at 59th Street, who currently have on display the largest showing of dolls ever (120 of them!), representing all the many decades, occupations, and hair colors over the years.  There is also an exclusive collection of dolls wearing “haute couture” creations from Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani, Givenchy, Vera Wang, and DVF. The one of a kind Barbies were valued between $25,000 and $27,000.

Barbie is the luckiest girl in the world. Who else, at 50, can have such an impressive collection of shoes, dresses, Malibu mansions, and men?
